The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Niger State branch has greeted former Military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on his 83rd birthday, calling him an exemplary national leader, statesman, and patriot.

In a birthday message given to General Babangida at his Minna house, the state chairman of CAN, Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, praised the elder statesman for his enduring dedication to the nation’s unity and advancement.

The Most Rev. Yohanna prayed to God for wisdom and discernment so that he could continue to intervene in Nigeria’s problems and provide relief, on behalf of his deputy, Rev. Ezekiel Ibrahim, who led other members of the executive committee.

“We honor your unselfish service, which has been a ray of hope for our nation, and we are grateful for your unflinching dedication to our wonderful country.

“Your Excellency, I wish you a happy birthday on behalf of the members of the executive committee and the entire Christendom in the state,” the clergyman said.

IBB’s contribution to promoting peaceful cohabitation among Nigerians was also praised by CAN.

It is important that you reflect on the enormous contributions you have made to the advancement of our beloved nation, particularly your recent advocacy for the return of Christian Religious Knowledge, or CRK, to all public primary and secondary schools.

Rev. Ibrahim wished the man a very happy birthday and wished that the Almighty God would provide him long life, good health, and unwavering peace of mind.

In response, Babangida expressed gratitude to the Body of Christ for honoring him and for their well-wishes and prayers.
