Sector 2 Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Haderim Daji, JTF NW OPHD, and the 17th Brigade of the Nigerian Army were both officially taken over by Brigadier General Babatunde Omopariola.

Brigadier General Omopariola took over from Brigadier General O.A. Fadairo, who was transferred to 12 Brigade Lokoja, during a ceremony held at the Brigade Headquarters in Natsinta Cantonment, Katsina.

At the 35 Battalion Parade Ground, Brigadier General Fadairo gave his parting speech, in which he thanked the Brigade’s commanders and troops for their constant support and collaboration throughout his command.

He hoped Brig. Gen. Omopariola could lead the brigade to even greater success and emphasized the need of their continued dedication and discipline.

Brigadier General Omopariola, in his first official address to the brigade’s commanders, lauded his predecessor for his distinguished military career and pledged his readiness to work with his fellow officers and soldiers to establish and maintain permanent stability and peace in the brigade’s command area.

Gen. Omopariola was the head of the 6th Division’s headquarters in the Nigerian army in Port Harcourt before his new position.

At the ceremony, participants signed notes symbolizing the passing of command, the symbolic passing of the flag, and a quarter guard parade.
