NiMet anticipates three-day thunderstorms and precipitation beginning Wednesday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, predicts thundery and rainy weather from Wednesday to Friday across the country.

NiMet’s weather forecast, which was announced in Abuja on Tuesday, forecasted thunderstorms in Borno, Jigawa, Yobe Adamawa, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto states on Wednesday morning.

Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated in Gombe, Sokoto, Bauchi, Kaduna, Adamawa, Yobe, Taraba, Kebbi, and Borno states.

The agency then stated that there is a slim likelihood of light to moderate rains in sections of Plateau and Nasarawa States in the morning hours.

Later in the day, moderate rain is expected in areas of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Benue, Kwara, and Nasarawa states.

According to the service, a gloomy atmosphere is expected throughout the southern area, with light rainfall forecast for sections of Akwa Ibom and Cross River states in the morning.

NiMet predicted rain in areas of Anambra, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa states later that day.

It predicted thunderstorms over areas of Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, and Borno states on Thursday morning.

Thunderstorms are anticipated to hit areas of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kaduna, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, and Borno states in the afternoon and evening.

According to NiMet, mild to moderate rainfall are expected in the North Central region, including the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Nasarawa, and Plateau States, throughout the morning hours.

The agency predicts moderate rains in sections of the Federal Capital Territory, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Plateau States later that day.

It expected mostly cloudy skies in the southern states in the morning, with rain in areas of Edo, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Osun, Abia, Enugu, Cross, and Rivers.

Thunderstorms are forecast in the morning hours on Friday in sections of Sokoto, Kebbi, Borno, and Yobe states.

Later in the day, thunderstorms are expected in Borno, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, and Kaduna states.

The North Central area would be cloudy in the morning, with thunderstorms expected in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau States later in the day.

According to NiMet, cloudy skies are expected over the southern area, with rain in parts of Osun, Oyo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Delta States in the afternoon and evening hours.

The organization encouraged inhabitants to avoid flood-prone locations due to the high risk of urban flooding in major cities as a result of heavy rainfall.

It also recommended the general public and airline operators to obtain up-to-date weather data and predictions from NiMet to ensure appropriate preparation in their operations.
