The federal government’s twenty trucks of rice meant as a palliative have not arrived in Abia State, according to the state’s government.
According to Prince Okey Kanu, the state’s commissioner for information, no such palliative had arrived in the state, and the federal government had not communicated about it.
The claims that the federal government had also sent 50 kilogram sacks of rice to the states for sale, with a price tag of N40,000, were deemed false news by him.
The federal government’s rice truck was nowhere to be seen. And the story about how a 50-kilogram bag of rice costs N40,000 is completely unfounded.
We have no business responding to conjecture and hearsay. “The federal government has a way of communicating with us regarding palliative care, and we have not received any such message,” he stated.
Responding to inquiries about whether or not the government should establish lines of communication with the federal government regarding the matter, the commissioner stated that it was unnecessary.
We are squandering our time trying to find a way to confirm the report. If the news had been real, the federal government could have given us the message as a whole. It didn’t happen that way!
Responding to a question about the state government’s initiatives to help the people of Abia weather the economic storm, he stated that the government “believes in teaching the people how to fish,” while providing palliatives.
