The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, has severely denounced the recent tragic incident in Mafa, Tarmuwa Local Government Area, Yobe State.
The attack, believed to have been carried out by Boko Haram extremists, resulted in the looting and burning of shops and houses in the neighborhood.
In a press statement published on Wednesday by Ismaila Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Gombe Government House, Yahaya condemned the assault as a “senseless act of violence” that has caused enormous anguish to the affected families and communities.
Yahaya praised security forces’ efforts to confront remnants of criminal groups, but emphasized the urgent need for increased operations to capture and bring the criminals to justice.
“This heinous conduct should not go unpunished. I urge security services to step up their efforts and bring the criminals to justice as soon as possible,” he said.
The NSGF Chairman emphasized the northern governors’ commitment to supporting efforts to restore peace and security to the region. He emphasized the necessity of collaborative action in preventing similar tragedies from occurring.
Yahaya offered the forum’s sympathies to the dead families and the Yobe State administration, praying for the souls of the departed and wishing the injured a swift recovery.
