Olubadan advises the newly appointed chiefs to view their positions as a call to greater service

Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Olubadan of Ibadanland, has urged the newly promoted chiefs to take their promotion as an opportunity to serve more.

During the investiture of six traditional chiefs into the Balogun line, Olakulehin made this proclamation.

Chief Mikail Gboyega Olawoyin Orogunmodi was elevated from Aare Ago Balogun to Asaaju Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Taofeek Ayoade moved from Lagunna Balogun to Ayingun Balogun of Ibadanland, and Chief Wasiu Delodun Adegboyega Ajimobi was promoted from Ayingun Balogun to Ikolaba Balogun of Ibadanland. Chief Mikail’s name was Chief Mikail’s. The Olubadan celebrated the promotions on Friday.

Among them are Chief Lateef Adetokunbo Akintola, who rose through the ranks from Oota Balogun to Aare Ago Balogun of Ibadanland; Chief Nureni Adebayo Akanbi, who worked his way up from Aare Egbe Omo Balogun to Lagunna Balogun of Ibadanland; and Chief Kayode Afolabi Kadelu, who rose from Gbonka Balogun to become Oota Balogun of Ibadanland.

According to the schoolhubby, Friday’s festivities were held at the Olubadan palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan.

The exalted chiefs were adorned with traditional Akoko leaves by Chief Wahab Popoola Labosinde, the Oluwo of Ibadanland.

Members of the Olubadan-in-Council who were present at the event included: Otun Olubadan, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole-Foko, Osi Balogun, High Chief John Olubunmi Isioye-Dada, Asipa Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Ekerin Olubadan, Oba Amidu Ajibade, and Ekerin Balogun, High Chief Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin.

Those who had recently been elevated to traditional titles were encouraged by Olakulehin to utilize their positions for the betterment of Ibadanland.

A number of new titles in the Balogun family have been bestowed upon you today, the traditional ruler announced. You are all greatly appreciated.

It is my hope that you will use your newfound authority to advance Ibadanland in every facet of human effort.

“May your elevation be a reason for you to devote even more time and energy to helping Ibadanland grow and prosper.”
