Pope Francis advises Catholics voting in the US election: Pick the least of two evils

Voters in the US Catholic primary between former president Trump and vice president Kamala Harris should “choose the lesser evil,” according to Pope Francis.

After a 12-day visit of Southeast Asia and Oceania, the pontiff made this statement during a press conference held on Friday from his papal jet.

The pope scolded Trump for “not welcoming migrants is a sin” and branded Harris’s advocacy for abortion rights as “assassination.”

“You have to pick the easier option.

Tell me who is the better option. Which one was it—that woman or that man? You have no idea. He made it clear that everyone should consider and act about this matter.

People must vote, the catholic leader added, adding that not doing so is unpleasant and bad.

The pope, however, did not reveal his preference for any candidate.

As previously reported by the schoolhubby, Harris expressed her desire to make Roe v. Wade a permanent part of the law during the presidential debate on Tuesday.

If elected, Trump also pledged to carry out the greatest deportation operation in U.S. history.

It is an assassination, the pope stated when discussing abortion and the expulsion of undocumented immigrants. Let us be explicit about these matters. Without a “but” or “however.”

To refuse to accept migrants is to commit a sin. This is serious. The one who kills children and the one who drives migrants away are both enemies of life, the Pope said.

The pope and Trump got into an argument in 2016 when the pope said that Trump’s proposal to construct a wall along the Mexican border was “not Christian.”

He has spoken out against President Joe Biden’s abortion policies in the past.

More than half a million Americans identify as Catholic, with a disproportionately large voting bloc in key states like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, according to Fox News.
