In preparation for Thursday’s opening ceremony, 5,776 competitors hailing from 29 states have made it to Asaba, Delta State, to register for the 8th Annual National Youth Games.
Today, the facilities at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, the major venue for the games, were inspected by the governor of Delta State, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori. Asaba is the capital of the state.
The state, he said, was prepared to host the Games, which are set to begin tomorrow in Asaba.
Chief Solomon Ogba, chairman of the local organizing committee (LOC), and senior officials from the state sports commission escorted the governor as he saw the indoor sports hall’s swimming pool, shooting range, and other facilities.
“We are prepared to host the National Youth Games,” he told the assembled press. The opening ceremony is tomorrow, you know. I have no doubt that this year will surpass last.
