“There were some problems; he has to compete,” Ten Hag said of Sancho

The decision to bench winger Jadon Sancho for Manchester United’s match against Brighton has been justified by manager Erik ten Hag.

Although he was left out of the match-day roster, Sancho travelled with the Red Devils’ team.

Last week, when Manchester United faced Fulham in their inaugural match, the England star was also a no-show.

Ten Hag was cited by Fabrizio Romano as saying, “I had a choice to make,” in explaining Sancho’s exclusion. There were some problems; we require the entire squad.

“He ought to fight for his position because he is one of them.”
