In order to hasten development and encourage peaceful cohabitation among the people of Kogi State, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has urged for better cooperation with the traditional institution.
This was said by Governor Ododo on Friday at the Government House in Lokoja when presenting office staff to the Akinrin of Ekinrin-Ade, His Royal Highness, Oba Johnson Kolade Otitoju, according to a statement on Saturday by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Ismaila Isah.
The governor, while praising the EkirinAde people for their rich cultural history, advised the newly installed Akinrin of Ekinrin Ade to make the most of his position to promote harmony and cooperation among the populace.
To hasten the area’s development, Governor Ododo urged the newly elected Akinrin to entice investors and back community policing initiatives.
He stressed that traditional institutions and his administration must work together for the sake of the state’s peace and development. He went on to say that his administration views traditional institutions as the most accessible sources of information for the general public and will keep pushing for traditional rulers to work with them.
In a statement, the governor reaffirmed the importance of the state’s traditional institution in upholding moral principles and pledged his administration’s full support for the institution as it works toward its mission of preserving cultural heritage.
The current government is making strides to put the state’s money to work for the people, as stated in the statement.
“In several towns across the state, the governor issued a warning about the careless selling of property to people who could be interested in grabbing land for themselves while pretending to be investors.”
Governor Ododo’s dedication to equity and justice was lauded by Barr. Salami Ozigi Deedat, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, in his remarks.
