A finalist for Miss South Africa, Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, recently withdrew from the competition after facing scrutiny over her nationality; Grammy-winning South African musician Tyla has denounced the bullying she endured.
Model Adetshina, who is of Mozambican and Nigerian descent, made it to the quarterfinals of the Miss South Africa pageant in July, but her nationality became a point of contention after that.
After allegations of fraud and identity theft surfaced from her mother by the South African Department of Home Affairs, she decided to withdraw from the competition, even though she was a Top 11 Finalist.
In response, Tyla expressed her disappointment with Adetshina’s harsh treatment. The model was allegedly forced to withdraw from the competition, according to her.
“Disappointed that this happened to her, but wish you all the best, girl,” Tyla commented after sharing a story about Adetshina’s withdrawal from the tournament on X. Go for it!
“No matter what people think, I will always support South Africa. She was the victim of bullying, and I will not tolerate it.
Chidimma Adetshina has been asked to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant. But she hasn’t responded to the invitation yet.
