In the aftermath of the devastating floods in Maiduguri, 3,683 individuals were evacuated from their homes by the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

This was disclosed on Friday during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri by Barkindo Mohammed, the Director-General of SEMA.

During a rescue operation, SEMA evacuated 3,683 people from their homes as of 5 p.m. on Thursday. The rescue and search mission has not ended yet.

Motorized boats, canoes, divers, military vehicles, and fire trucks are all part of the rescue process.

Mohammed announced that search and rescue operations will begin today and tomorrow as the water levels continue to drop. He indicated that their focus would be on individuals who have made distress calls.

As far as he can tell, fourteen official camps and a large number of informal camps have been established by SEMA to accommodate the approximately two million displaced persons.

He announced that the federal government had sent N3 billion and food shipments to the state.

“Borno and other states have each received N3 billion in support from President Bola Tinubu.

In addition to the funds provided by the federal government, Governor Babagana Zulum of Zulum State has increased them and sent them to SEMA.

Mohammed assured the flood victims that their relief would reach all of the state’s Local Government Areas, not only Maiduguri.
