Commissioner Orok: Cross River needs a trade fair to broaden economic borders

Annual trade fairs, according to Dr. Abigail Orok, Cross River State’s Commissioner for Commerce, are the only surefire means for the state to expand its economic horizons.

Consequently, in an effort to revive the state’s flagging economy, Bassey Otu, the governor, has resolved to host yearly trade fairs.

During a press conference in Calabar, Orok revealed the news, saying that the state has chosen to rename the Cross River trade fair that would be held in November 2024.

“Attracting investment opportunities to the state is one of the core mandates of the Ministry of Commerce. This is particularly true now that the state is evolving a Public-Private Partnership model for her development.”

Additionally, the fair will facilitate the creation of new business contacts both inside and outside of Nigeria, open doors to previously inaccessible markets, and showcase products that are at the forefront of product innovation.
