Crisis in the Kano Emirate was precipitated by politicians—Shekarau on Emir Sanusi v. Ado Bayero

The emirate conflict, according to Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, a former governor of Kano State, is the result of political interference.

The emirate crisis, according to Shekarau, would not have occurred if politicians had avoided the state’s traditional institutions.

You may remember that Aminu Ado Bayero was deposed by Governor Abba Yusuf, who then reinstated Muhammed Sanusi.

The decision by the governor came after the 2019 Emirate statute of the Kano State House of Assembly was repealed, which had allowed Ado Bayero to become the Emir of Kano.

Shekarau, who chimed in on the topic, wished for calm in Kano State and said he hoped the fighting would soon end.

Shekarau stated, “There will be peace,” when appearing on Politics Today on Channels Television. We can’t do without the conventional institution. Being a member of the institution, I will refrain from discussing that.

It seemed like we got ourselves into this mess because of the political angle. Nobody would have argued with me if politics hadn’t been involved, and the traditional institution had been involved in the right way.

There is no denying the prominence of the conventional institutions in modern society. A government appointee or the governor can be considered a leader. This harmony of comprehension is essential.
