While speaking to journalists at the palace of Owa Obokun in Ilesa on Friday, Chief Adeniyi Ibitoye, the Obaala of Ilesa, and Chief Adebola Orolugbagbe, the Odole Owa of Ijesaland, were among those who made the announcement.
According to schoolhubby, Oba Aromolaran passed away on Wednesday from an age-related disease. However, Chief Yinka Fasuyi, the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, did not confirm the news until Thursday afternoon, when he personally signed a statement.
The traditional prime minister of the palace, Orolugbagbe, denied rumors to the contrary and affirmed that the Owa-in-Council had not imposed a curfew on the entire town.
On the other hand, he did mention that the Owa’s traditional palace had been closed and that all community markets would be closed until September 21.
He announced a seven-day closure of all markets in Ijesaland, beginning on September 14 and concluding on September 20, 2024. September 21, 2024, will commemorate the reopening of all markets.
In Ijesaland, there is no curfew. As a result, everyone should go about their regular lives as usual.
Everything at the traditional palace at Okemese has been put on hold until further notice, therefore it will be shuttered immediately. For the next three months, customary transition rituals will be observed.
According to Orolugbagbe, Ijesaland has lost a unique treasure, a father figure to everyone, and the prototypical traditional leader who oversaw all of Ijesaland’s affairs for 42 years.
Reminding the Ijesa people to pray for Oba Aromolaran’s family, he asked them to maintain peace.
