Participant Chidimma Adetshina of Miss South Africa is no longer entering the pageant.

She claimed she stepped away to ensure her family’s safety.

According to schoolhubby, the government of South Africa accused Chidimma’s mother of fraud and identity theft, which led to controversy surrounding the country’s national beauty pageant.

Following her July announcement as a competition finalist, 23-year-old Chidimma has been the target of racist and xenophobic insults on social media.

Cabinet ministers were among those who had cast doubt on her qualifications.

The Home Affairs Ministry investigated her citizenship status in response to a request from the contest organizers, following the commotion that the matter caused.

According to the ministry, “prima facie indications” have been found that suggest Chidimma’s mother may have committed fraud and taken the identity of a South African lady following the birth of the Miss SA candidate.

Although it is a painful decision, Chidimma has decided to withdraw from the pageant in order to ensure the safety of her family, she said on her Instagram account.

I want to begin by expressing my gratitude to everyone who has supported me throughout my Miss South Africa journey. The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming, and for that I am very thankful.

It has been an incredible experience competing in the Miss South Africa 2024 pageant. However, for the sake of my family’s and my own safety, I have decided to withdraw from the competition after much thought.

Thanks to the Miss South Africa Organisation, I’ve had an incredible experience, and I’m leaving with a heavy heart.

As the competition continues, I want to take this chance to send my best wishes to the other finalists. We are all represented by whomever holds the crown.
