Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, the commissioner of education, science, and technology in the state of Ogun, has stated that the present government is committed to reducing the number of students who do not attend school and increasing the number of students who have access to high-quality education.

At the First Term Pre-Resumption Stakeholders’ Meeting for the 2024/2025 Academic Session, held at Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Arigbabu made the announcement to principals, headteachers, parent clubs, and students from public elementary, secondary, and technical schools.

He adamantly opposed any compromise on the government’s free education policy and issued a stern warning that no student would be expelled for nonpayment of school fees or levies.

According to the commissioner, the current administration has made sufficient arrangements for facilities, including furniture and other learning and teaching materials, to ensure that the education process runs smoothly.

In order to promote food sustainability and a maintenance culture, he hinted that the state would soon pass a law mandating that all schools have agricultural, woodworking, and carpentry workshops. He also mentioned that school activities will resume promptly to ensure efficient academic work.

“Maintaining decorum and avoiding running afoul of government policies are two of the many responsibilities that come with being a principal,” he stated.

Speaking, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, characterized teachers as molders of the future.

She urged principals to keep standards high, keep an eye on lessons, and teach students safety tips. Soyombo urged parents to support their children’s development by providing them with books, school uniforms, bags, and sandals.

In their messages of goodwill, Mrs. Olubunmi Womiloju, Principal General of Remo Block; Mr. Adeniyi Adekoya, State President of the All Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS); and Mrs.

Folake Onabajo, Chairman of the Association of Primary School Headteachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), expressed gratitude to the ministry for organizing this forum where stakeholders could discuss ways to improve education.

They also pledged to continue providing students with high-quality instruction and working to solidify government policies.

The following individuals have been appointed to various positions within the National Security and Civil Defense Corps, including Superintendent Rachel Orishawo, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations (also known as ACP Manager Fergus), the Commandant of the National School Crime Prevention Corps, Folayinka Ige, and the State Coordinator of the Safe School Project, Superintendent Fergus.
